The King George County Historical Society was founded in 1987. The purpose of the society is to collect, to preserve, and to disseminate both information and material of every nature relating to the history, antiquities, and literature of King George County in the Commonwealth of Virginia. This purpose is accomplished through programs on a wide range of topics, publications, advocacy for our historical sites, and preservation of our artifacts. The society is organized exclusively for educational purposes.

Meetings are held in the Revercomb Building, Robert Combs Board Room, at King George Courthouse, on the third Thursday of each month except July and August. Visitors are always welcome.

Membership is open to individuals, families and students. Members receive a newsletter published quarterly, which contains historical articles as well as current events and museum happenings.
