The King George County Historical Society believes that our local heritage should be a source of great pride. It is this proud past that the historical society preserves.
  • Exhibits include, but are not restricted to Prehistoric, Revolutionary, Civil War, and Twentieth Century artifacts. Artifacts depicting any aspect of King George County history, regardless of age or form, either are accepted as donations or may be lent to the museum for a specified period of time.
  • Special hands-on programs for children and school classes put participants "in touch" with their heritage.
  • The Research Center is open to the public during the museum hours. The research collection includes a library of books on local area histories and published genealogical information. Files on family histories, places and events are also available for the researcher.
    • A copy machine is available at a nominal cost.
    • Material can be scanned and copied to a CD-ROM disk, also at a nominal cost.
    • Museum volunteers are available on a limited basis to assist with research.
    • Requests received by ordinary mail must include an SASE or some provision for postage.
    • A computer database of King George County families is also available for researchers. This data has been provided by individuals who have shared their research with us. New information on family histories is always welcome.
